Chapter 1: The Beginning

Morgan stretched as she climbed out of the carpool.  She waved as Darling pulled away from the curb and drove away.  Turning back to the house she smiled as her gaze drifted past the toys in the yard.  It had been days since her youngest children were young enough to play with them.  Soon though baby Luke would be old enough to play with them once more.

Such was her life, as one generation grows up a new one is born to take their place.  She smiled in contentment at the changes her life had undertaken so many weeks ago.  As she walked up to the gate she stopped at the mailbox to collect the letters inside.

Bill, bill, junk, bill... She stopped when she came to an envelope made of heavy paper.  There was no name written on it.  Flipping it over, she smiled when she saw a familiar seal in wax over the flap.  Opening it, Morgan skimmed through the letter to get to the point of her old friends message.  Shaking her head as she finished, she passed through the gate and opened the front door of the house.

She smiled at the collage of photos on the wall.  She took great pride in recording the history of her family since it began.  Too often she had been left with nothing more than memory without proof to their truth or falsehood.  She was determined that this time she would have something real when this life was gone.

A quiet snore brought her eyes down to the couch.  Her smile widened when she caught Anakin sleeping there.  Her husband had taken to waiting up for her return from work since she had started at the science lab.  It was a reversal of the old days when she had waited up for him to return after tucking the children into bed.

He started awake as she approached the couch.  Anakin sat up and gave her a tired smile as she took the seat next to him.

     "How was work?" he asked.

"Interesting in new ways," she answered.  "We completed the Momentum Conserver today."

"Great.  What was it supposed to do again?"

Morgan laughed, "I don't remember but it turns out that it doesn't do much more than spin in place.  The only thing special about it is that it doesn't stop once it starts unless you stop it."

Anakin laughed with her as he pulled her into his arms and leaned back into the couch.  Morgan sighed as she settled against him.  The house around them quiet in the evening hour.

     "Where is everyone?" she asked.

"The girls are in their room.  Rhi was working on her homework and Wynn was resting before she started hers.  Teddy went to his room after settling Luke for bed.  He said something about looking through some computer code for work tomorrow."

"It's too quiet," Morgan said as she turned into his body to lay her head against his chest.  "We haven't had quiet like this since before Teddy was born."

Morgan smiled as Anakin chuckled.  She looked up at him and brushed her fingers through the gray hair on his head.  She frowned briefly, "Have you thought any more about removing the disguise?"

Anakin looked at her, "I don't much think of it as a disguise anymore.  This has been my face for longer than Teddy has been alive.  It's a part of who I am now."

"I'm not any more scared of your other self than you are of mine you know.  If you want to take it off, you could."

Anakin pressed a kiss to her forehead.  "Thank you, but I'm good like this."

"Have you given any more thought to our discussion about what will happen after I die?" he continued.

Morgan frowned and started to pull away from him.  She frowned at his hand as he caught her wrist and kept her in place.

"I don't want to talk about it.  I don't even want to think about it," she growled.  "I'll have to live it soon enough, why should I give it any thought now."

Anakin smiled sadly while keeping her in place.  "It would mean peace to me, to know that you are being taken care of when I'm gone, Morgan.  I want to know that you won't be alone when that happens."

"I won't be alone.  I'll have Teddy, the girls, and baby Luke," she began.

"Who all love you, as they should," he interrupted, squeezing her hand, "You are an amazing mother, but they are growing up.  The girls are a little over a week away from becoming Young Adults.  Padme has already moved in with her husband.  Someday Teddy might decide to remarry or just move out on his own with Luke.

"I want to know that you'll have someone here for you."

Morgan turned her head away.  She knew he was speaking from concern for her but it hurt too much to think of the events to come that he was talking about.  She knew he was right, her children were growing and often that meant they would choose to leave but she was happy right now with her family the way it was.

It had been many, many, many weeks since she last had family to share her home with and she didn't want to think about how empty it would be when her children left.

A hand on her cheek turned her back to Anakin.  "Just promise me you'll start to think about it Morgan.  I'm not going anywhere today or tomorrow, but it will happen someday."

"Alright," she whispered, leaning down and resting her head onto his chest, "I'll think about it."

"But before then," she pushed down her growing grief and sat up, "how would you like to host an old friend of mine for a few days?"

"Coming, " Morgan called as she hurried to the front door after the knock.

Opening the door, Morgan saw the very familiar face of one of her oldest friends.  "Merlin," she squealed before throwing herself into his arms.

The man laughed as he caught her up in his arms to return the hug.  "How are you Morgana," he asked placing her back on her feet.

"I've been fine, and call me Morgan will you.  But you.  Look at you," she said looking him up and down, "just the same as ever."   She pulled him into another hug before herding him inside and to the couch to sit.

"Everyone's abed right now," she said.  "You'll meet them in the morning."

"That's probably a good thing," he said looking up at the pictures on the wall.

"Yes, maybe," Morgan smiled as she followed his gaze.  "I thought I'd give you a run down of the household before you meet them."

"That would be great.  Then you can tell me what you've been up to over the last weeks," he said turning in his seat to face her.

Morgan smiled and adjusted her seat to mirror him, pulling a leg under her to better face him as she spoke.

"As a quick overview, you'll meet my husband Anakin, our son Teddy and our twin girls Bronwynn and Rhiannon and Teddy's son Luke.  Padme and her husband Farhan live in a house in downtown Windenburg."

"That's amazing.  And they all know?"  he asked.

"Yes.  They know that I am Blood-Born," she said using the preferred name for those individuals commonly called Vampires by the popular culture.  "In fact, Anakin has been a donor since we started living together.  And we just found out that Wynn is also Blood-Born."

"One out of four to carry on the Blood-lines is amazing, indeed," he smiled at her.

"One out of two really," Morgan corrected.  "Teddy and Padme are my adopted children, though I've been taking care of them since they were born.  Their mother, Tatum, was Anakin's wife and my best friend before she passed."

"And you took up with Anakin after she died?" Merlin asked, raising a brow.

"Not right away," Morgan shrugged, "and we were already flirting with the idea of Anakin and I starting a committed relationship with Tatum's approval.  After she died we put a hold on changing our relationship until we had time to mourn and were ready to enter a relationship again.  It helped that we had her approval before she died."

"You always did dance to a different beat than the rest of the world," he smiled at her and squeezed her shoulder where it rested against the back of the couch.

"It never made sense to me to limit myself to a world that was constantly arguing with itself from one generation to the next.  I'd rather be happy and make the people around me happy without concern for the world at large."

"But it has ever required outstanding courage to act outside the approved boundaries of society.  While I and the majority of the Blood-Born would never go beyond those boundaries, I've always loved to watch you dance across with a merry laugh and call others to dance with you."

"You flatter me Merlin," Morgan said with a happy smile and looked down in modesty.

"I only speak the truth as I know it," he replied.

Morgan only smiled and shook her head in happiness and contentment at his tomfoolery.

Random Ramblings...

So this is the second (third?) story I've started with the Sims 4.  I have a hard time keeping track, I guess.  Anyways, I've started this family with a bit of longstanding background that I may or may not go into in the story, it's hard to say right now.

This family is a bit of a Random Legacy Challenge, though the challenge is starting with Generation 2 rather than the founding household (which would be Morgan, Anakin and Tatum).  Side note Tatum's name was chosen with the random click during Create-A-Sim but I did steal Anakin's and later Padme's name from the Star Wars Prequel characters.  I happen to like the prequel trilogy.  I think Bronwynn and Rhiannon also came from another simmers story I've read at some point, but unfortunately I can't remember whose.  Shout out to them though because the names are adorable.

What else... I'll be updating the Generation stats on a separate page at some point.  Don't want to reveal it too soon, of course.

Thank you for reading.
